Why we started
Built by operators, for operators.
Permute was founded by engineers who have lived on both sides of the problem: building data infrastructure and running businesses that depend on it. We know what it feels like when data is everywhere, reporting lives in spreadsheets, and simple questions take weeks to answer.
Our team spans Y Combinator (2017), MLOps, Generative AI, Cybersecurity, Finance, and Space & Defense. That breadth is deliberate. The problems we solve sit at the intersection of all of them.
We have watched companies spend millions on consultants and data teams, only to end up with infrastructure that becomes technical debt and dashboards nobody trusts. There is a better way.

Most recently COO at Scout Space, a space tech company building advanced technology for monitoring orbital debris. Prior to the space industry, he was a software engineer and trader at Morgan Stanley and has deep expertise in financial markets.
Eric Mills
Co-Founder & CTO
Y Combinator founder and former VP of Engineering at a cybersecurity company that was acquired by Mimecast. He has built AI and data science platforms at scale and most recently bootstrapped a GenAI B2C product to 350k monthly active users.
