Today we’re launching our self-service tier for Permute. We’ve been working hands-on with enterprise customers for a few months, and now we’re opening up the platform so that any team can use it.
The problem
Every company we talk to wants to use AI agents with their data. But the agents don’t work. They hallucinate, they give conflicting answers, and they can’t reconcile information across systems. The reason is that they don’t have good enough context.
A typical mid-size company has hundreds of tables across dozens of systems. The amount of context required for an agent to do anything useful is massive. And picking the right context, at the right moment, for the right question is an infrastructure problem that no amount of prompt engineering can solve.
The backstory
When we originally started the company, we set out to build specialized agents that could run analytics over large enterprise datasets. The idea was that a customer could bring any data they wanted and we’d build AI that could work across it.
What we found was that almost no companies had data in a place where this was remotely possible. It was scattered across dozens of different tools, and had no shared context or structure. Every agent we built would pull from the wrong tables, fail to reconcile records across systems, or just hallucinate.
So we built the platform that made it possible.
What Permute does
Permute connects to all of your data systems and uses AI to map the relationships between the data. It builds up a semantic understanding of your business, so that agents can find their way around.
We integrate natively with the tools companies already use (HubSpot, QuickBooks, Stripe, Xero, BigQuery, and more) and pull everything into a unified data layer. From there, you can use Permute’s AI agents to:
- Ask questions in plain language and get answers backed by your actual data
- Build dashboards by describing what you want to see
- Set up recurring reports that run on a schedule and deliver to email or Slack
- Combine data from different sources into clean, standardized views
The platform handles ingestion, storage, and querying so you don’t have to set up a warehouse or write SQL. You connect your sources, and Permute gives you a foundation that AI agents can actually work with. One where they have enough context to give you real answers instead of hallucinations.
What incumbents get wrong
Incumbents like Databricks and Snowflake have tried to solve this, but their platforms require months of implementation and expensive consultants that most mid-market companies can’t justify. And more often than not, those projects fail.
What companies need is a system that handles all of that implementation work for them. Something that builds the warehouse, maps the data, and gets them to answers without an 18-month consulting project that costs $2 million. That’s what Permute is.
Who is this for?
We’re launching a self-service tier for teams that need answers from their data without building infrastructure first.
- Startups that need to understand their financials and pipeline
- Fractional CFOs and finance consultants managing multiple clients
- Small businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets
- Growth-stage companies that can’t justify a Databricks contract
The primary use cases today are financial intelligence (runway, burn rate, contract-to-cash, spend analysis) and sales intelligence (pipeline health, deal scoring, forecast accuracy).
Launch week
This is day one of launch week. We’re going to highlight our self-service analytics tools this week:
- Wednesday, June 24: Dashboards
- Thursday, June 25: Data Tables
- Friday, June 26: Reports
In the coming weeks, we’ll also be launching dedicated tools for context building, our own API, and more. And for this week only, all plans are 50% off.
