Manufacturing production schedule template

Plan order quantities, production hours, and work-center capacity. Download an Excel workbook with formulas, a printable schedule, and an editable CSV.

What the template records

Use this manufacturing production schedule template to review a proposed schedule for one planning period. The Excel workbook calculates run hours from quantity and units per hour, adds setup hours, and compares scheduled hours with available hours by work center. Material availability, due dates, and release decisions remain visible review inputs.

Capacity review for the same period

Work center · Available hours · Scheduled hours · Remaining hours · Owner / action

How to use it

  1. Set the plant, planning period, unit definitions, and schedule version. Enter each work center once in the capacity section with its available production hours for that period. Deduct known downtime before entering available hours (do not deduct it again from the calculated balance).
  2. Enter one scheduled operation per row with an order ID, work center, planned quantity, units per hour, and setup hours. Use rates that describe the same item unit as the quantity. For multi-step orders, enter each operation on its own work center and allocate setup once per scheduled batch. Mark material availability as unreviewed, ready, or blocked with evidence.
  3. Compare scheduled hours with available hours and investigate any negative balance. Review order sequencing, due dates, staffing, material constraints, and changeover assumptions before release. Record the owner and next action for unresolved issues, then retain the approved schedule version alongside order and capacity evidence.

Print the PDF at actual size on US Letter paper. The CSV is a blank input sheet with column headers; it has no formulas, macros, or automatic refresh. Open it in Excel or import it into Google Sheets, then save a dated copy with your evidence.

The Excel workbook includes formulas in labeled output columns and shaded cells for your inputs. Keep formulas intact, complete each active row, and review the calculated results before sharing. It contains no macros and does not connect to source systems.

Review before sharing

  • Quantity and rate use the same item unit.
  • Capacity covers the same planning period.
  • Material and sequencing issues are reviewed before release.

The workbook compares hours within one period. It does not optimize sequencing, calculate material requirements from a bill of materials, or confirm that orders can finish by their due dates. Work centers with different resources need their own capacity definition; the template does not release production orders or control equipment.
