Connecting HubSpot to Permute
Pipeline intelligence in under 5 minutes
This guide walks you through connecting your HubSpot CRM to Permute so you can run pipeline analysis, surface churn risk, track deal momentum, and build automated revenue reports — all from your existing HubSpot data.
This is a read-only integration. Permute will never create, update, or delete any records in your HubSpot account.
Before you start
Make sure you have the following ready:
- An active Permute account (book a demo if you don't have one yet)
- A HubSpot account with Super Admin or App Marketplace Access permissions
- Your HubSpot portal should be on a Professional or Enterprise plan for full CRM object access
Step 1
Start the connection in Permute
- Log in to your Permute workspace.
- Open Data Connectors from the left navigation.
- Find HubSpot in the list of available integrations.
- Click Connect. You will be redirected to HubSpot's OAuth authorization page.
Step 2
Authorize Permute in HubSpot
On the HubSpot authorization screen:
- Select the HubSpot account (portal) you want to connect. If you manage multiple portals, make sure you pick the correct one.
- Review the permissions Permute is requesting. These include read access to CRM objects (contacts, companies, deals), sales activities, and pipeline configuration.
- Click Connect app to grant access.
- You will be automatically redirected back to Permute.
Permute requests only read scopes. We cannot modify contacts, deals, workflows, or any other HubSpot data. You can revoke access at any time from HubSpot's Connected Apps settings.
Step 3
Select objects to sync
After authorization, Permute will automatically discover the available objects in your HubSpot portal. You can choose which objects to sync:
- Contacts — People in your CRM
- Companies — Organizations and accounts
- Deals — Pipeline opportunities with stage, amount, and close dates
- Tickets — Support tickets and service requests
- Engagements — Emails, calls, meetings, notes, and tasks
- Line Items & Products — Product catalog and deal line items
- Custom Objects — Any custom objects defined in your portal
Select the objects relevant to your analysis and click Start Sync. Permute will begin pulling your data in the background.
Step 4
Wait for initial sync
The initial sync typically takes 2–10 minutes depending on the volume of records in your portal. You can track progress from the connector detail page.
Once complete, your HubSpot data will appear as queryable tables in your Permute workspace.
After the initial sync, Permute automatically keeps your data up to date with incremental syncs. No manual refresh needed.
Step 5
Start analyzing
With your HubSpot data synced, you can immediately:
- Ask questions in Chat — “What deals are at risk of slipping this quarter?” or “Show me companies with no activity in 30 days”
- Build automated reports — Weekly pipeline snapshots, win/loss analysis, rep performance scorecards
- Run explorations — Let Permute autonomously analyze your pipeline for patterns, risks, and opportunities
- Combine with other sources — Join HubSpot data with QuickBooks, Stripe, or spreadsheets for full revenue visibility
What data syncs from HubSpot
Permute syncs the following from your HubSpot portal:
| Object | Includes |
|---|---|
| Contacts | All properties, lifecycle stage, lead status, list memberships |
| Companies | All properties, industry, revenue, employee count, associated contacts |
| Deals | Pipeline, stage, amount, close date, associated contacts and companies |
| Engagements | Emails, calls, meetings, notes, tasks with timestamps and associations |
| Tickets | Status, priority, category, pipeline, associated records |
| Products & Line Items | SKU, price, quantity, deal associations |
| Owners | Sales reps and team assignments |
| Pipelines | Pipeline names, stages, and display order |
Permute uses HubSpot's metadata APIs to dynamically discover all available objects and properties in your portal — including custom objects and custom properties. No manual schema configuration needed.
Required HubSpot permissions
The user authorizing the connection needs one of the following permission sets in HubSpot:
- Super Admin — Full access, simplest option
- App Marketplace Access — Specifically allows connecting third-party apps
If you see a “You don't have permission to install this app” error during authorization, ask your HubSpot admin to either grant you App Marketplace Access or complete the connection on your behalf.
Revoking access
You can disconnect the integration at any time:
- From Permute: Go to Data Connectors, find HubSpot, and click Disconnect.
- From HubSpot: Go to Settings → Integrations → Connected Apps, find Permute, and click Uninstall.
After disconnecting, Permute will stop syncing data. Previously synced data remains in your workspace until you explicitly delete the connector's datasets.
Troubleshooting
Common issues and how to resolve them:
- “You don't have permission” — The authorizing user needs Super Admin or App Marketplace Access in HubSpot.
- Wrong portal connected — Disconnect and reconnect, making sure to select the correct portal during the OAuth step.
- Missing data after sync — Ensure the objects you expect are selected for sync. Some objects (e.g., custom objects) may need to be explicitly enabled.
- Sync seems stuck — Large portals (100k+ records) may take longer on the initial sync. Check the connector detail page for progress. If no progress after 30 minutes, try disconnecting and reconnecting.
- Stale data — Incremental syncs run automatically. If you need immediate freshness, trigger a manual sync from the connector detail page.
