If Permute has not been added to the selected hub, it cannot find the hub or sync its data.
What you need
- An Autodesk Forma cloud hub containing the projects you want to sync.
- A Hub Admin who can add a custom integration to that hub.
- An Autodesk user who can read the target hubs, projects, documents, and Cost Management data.
- A Permute workspace where you can create connectors.
This connector reads cloud data exposed through Autodesk Platform Services (APS). It does not connect Autodesk desktop applications or local project files.
1. Copy the Permute APS client ID
- In Permute, open the workspace and select Connectors.
- Select Add connector, then choose Autodesk Forma.
- Keep the setup window open and copy the APS client ID shown in the required setup guide.
An existing integration named “Permute” may belong to another app (Autodesk checks the client ID, not the integration name).
2. Add Permute to the Autodesk hub
- Open Autodesk Forma and sign in as a Hub Admin.
- Select Hub Admin from the product picker.
- Use the hub selector to choose the hub that contains the target projects.
- Select Custom integrations in the left navigation.
- Select Add custom integration.
- Paste the APS client ID from Permute.
- Enter Permute as the integration name and add an optional description.
- Select Next and complete Autodesk's access confirmation.
- Confirm the integration appears as Active.
Autodesk's direct Custom integrations URL includes the selected hub ID:
https://acc.autodesk.com/account-admin/custom-integrations/accounts/<HUB_ID>
There is no portable link to the final screen because each Autodesk customer has a different hub ID. Select the hub in Hub Admin first, then use the URL Autodesk generates.
Autodesk shows Full Hub Access for this custom integration. Permute uses that access only to read the data listed below and does not write to Autodesk. A Hub Admin should review and approve the access before continuing.
3. Authorize the Autodesk user
- Return to the Autodesk Forma connector in Permute.
- Confirm that the client ID was added to the target hub.
- Select Sign in with Autodesk.
- Sign in to Autodesk as the user whose project access Permute should use.
- Approve the requested read access and return to Permute.
Permute reads the selected hub through the custom integration and the Autodesk user you authorize. Permute does not write to Autodesk.
Available tables
Permute currently exposes 13 Autodesk tables:
| Area | Tables |
|---|---|
| Hub and project | hubs, projects, companies |
| Documents | folders, items, versions |
| Cost Management | budgets, change_orders, cost_items, expenses, expense_items, contracts, payments |
Available rows depend on the connected user's permissions, the products enabled for each project, and whether the project has matching data. Cost Management tables can be empty when the hub or project lacks Cost Management access (or when no records exist).
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| Connection completes, but no Autodesk hubs appear | Confirm the exact client ID shown by Permute is Active under Custom integrations in the same hub. An integration with the right name but another client ID does not connect this app. |
| Custom integrations is missing | Confirm the user is a Hub Admin and that the hub's Autodesk subscription exposes the Custom integrations tool. |
| Some projects or documents are missing | Confirm the connected Autodesk user can open those projects and folders in Autodesk Forma. |
| Cost Management tables are empty | Confirm the project has Cost Management access, the connected user has permission, and records exist. |
| Companies fail while other tables sync | Confirm the custom integration is Active with Full Hub Access. |
