Fireflies recording settings can remove transcript text after processing. Check whether the source meeting still has a transcript.
Before you start
- Access to the Fireflies account that holds the meetings to connect.
1. Open Fireflies API settings
Open Fireflies → Integrations → Fireflies API.
Open Fireflies Integrations → Fireflies API and select Get API Key. Copy the key from Developer settings into Permute. Keep it private and replace it if exposed.
Fireflies describes its API as a way to access meeting records, transcripts, and summaries. Permute’s setup screen identifies those as the data this connector syncs.
2. Copy the API key
Select Get API Key, then copy the key from Developer settings.
The key works within the Fireflies account that issued it. If a meeting or transcript is absent, confirm that the account can see that meeting and that Fireflies has processed it. Check the Fireflies source before changing the connector.
3. Add Fireflies in Permute
In your workspace, open Connectors, select Add Connector, choose Fireflies, and name the account.
Under Sync which data?, choose an option:

- Paste the key into API Key and select Connect.
4. Choose tables (manual selection)
If you chose Select manually, open the connector after connecting. Use the checkboxes to select at least one table, then select Save selection.
5. Check the first result
- Choose a completed Fireflies meeting with a transcript and summary.
- Compare its title, date, transcript, and summary with the source meeting.

Know what the meeting retains
Fireflies recording settings determine whether a meeting retains audio, a transcript, and a summary. For example, Transcript + Summary keeps text but deletes the recording after processing. Summary Only keeps the summary and deletes the transcript and recording. The available modes depend on the Fireflies plan.
If Permute shows a summary but no transcript, check the meeting’s recording format in Fireflies. A key cannot retrieve text that Fireflies did not retain.
Use a known transcript for validation
Permute imports a meeting’s title, date, duration, participants, transcript text with speaker names, AI summary, and source transcript link. Pick a completed meeting and compare those details with Fireflies.
Audio and video recording files are not imported. Use the source link to open the meeting in Fireflies.
