It can read only the Monday.com boards and items that user may read.
Before you start
- A personal API token from your Monday.com account.
1. Open access token settings
Open Monday.com → Profile → Developers → My Access Tokens.
2. Show or generate a personal token
Select Show beside your personal token, or generate a new one.
Open your profile in Monday.com, select Developers, then API token → Show. Copy the personal token into Permute. Account admins can also find it under Administration → Connections → Personal API token.
The token identifies one Monday.com user. Choose a user who can see the boards and items you want Permute to import.
3. Copy the token
Copy the token.
Monday.com says a personal API token has the same board, column, item, and account permissions as its user in the app. If the user cannot see a workspace or board in Monday.com, the token cannot retrieve it for Permute.
Before changing the connection, open the missing board as the token owner and review that person’s workspace and board access.
4. Add Monday.com in Permute
In your workspace, open Connectors, select Add Connector, choose Monday.com, and name the account.
Under Sync which data?, choose an option:

- Paste the token into API Key and select Connect.
5. Choose tables (manual selection)
If you chose Select manually, open the connector after connecting. Use the checkboxes to select at least one table, then select Save selection.
6. Check the first result
- Open a known board as the personal token’s owner.
- Note an item ID, its group, and the column value you want to compare.

How Monday.com organizes a board

Use stable item references
Monday.com identifies items by ID and exposes the board, group, creator, creation time, and column values as separate fields. A board can change its groups or column labels while the item remains the same record.
When validating a row, use the item and board together instead of relying only on a displayed item name. If a value looks wrong, inspect the column type and source value in Monday.com. A date, status, person, and text column have different value forms.

Avoid an unexpected token cutoff
The Monday.com Developer Center lets a user regenerate a personal API token. The old token becomes invalid immediately. Update Permute with the new value after regeneration; a previously connected account will otherwise fail its next API call.
If a board is missing while other boards sync, inspect board access. If every request fails after regeneration, inspect the token itself.
